Jam & Jay was creating formula for Gingersnap Bali since 2006, and they were refined the DNA of Gingersnap Bali in 2012.

Jay was, at that time, a dancer of Balinese sacred dances in the Hindu temples, and he really attracted to all forms of art in general... Jam had already created his own clothing brand in France for nearly ten years, sold in Paris shop in rue Etienne Marcel and on tourist islands (Belle ile, Île de Ré, Peninsula of Rhuys). Jam then decides to add to the collection line, a rather streetwear element with definitely urban, modern and avant-garde touch.

While Jay, he brings roundness and voluptuousness shapes, sexier appearance that he sometimes construct from secret fantasies: a colored piping that goes with dark color clothes, hand sewing last touch, a pocket lapel of boiled wool from Italy and so on...

They agree to use only natural fabrics, linen, cotton, rayon, jersey, silk....

Their inspirations come primarily from the street. Both are avid travelers searching around the globe for new styles unearthed by chance on a street corner. Additionally, they return from these journeys with indigenous accessories to make the most unique clothing yet.

The man collection aims to be intergenerational, elaborately stylish, naturally elegant and comfortable on a daily basis. Gingersnap man is somehow a dandy adventurer, seeking a world where fashion gets off its beaten track to trail blaze new paths...

He is a laid back traveler, a charmer and he likes fashionable places which kept its soul. We see him crossing the river of Singapore on a transporter, or sitting on the terrace of a café, in Beaubourg street; he is an immediate pleasure-seeker.

He appreciated the beautiful fabrics like natural linen, raw vintage leather, which just gives him that easy and free countenance, like going bare feet… in leather boots...

The Gingersnap Bali woman is an emancipated, not sophisticated woman but possesses a rare elegance. She is free from any fashion adage, and she likes to move with loose and wide movements, and especially does not want to not be restricted in her pants or her evening dress

She is a cheerful woman, she dances like crazy, manages by herself, and loves without restraint. Occasionally sexy without being provocative, occasionally stylized without being formatted...

She also loves to hit the pavement with her straps on the calf leather heels to travel the world. She travels and laughed a lot, she flips through all kinds of magazines for hours in a bookstore in Istanbul, or sips, without worrying about the time that goes, an ice tea in a small coffee place Saint-Pierre, in a shade of a red umbrella, with her favorite newspaper (le canard enchaîné)

She aims to be different, she loves light fabrics, which she can wrapped herself around in the evening for more elegance. She is a kind of intellectual who able to mix a subtle feminine appearance, chic and casual, with a rebellious spirit refuses at all costs to be a Barbie.

In brief, beyond appearances, Gingersnap Bali is less of a fashion statement, but more of a state of being, an exquisite lifestyle.

Sustainability

At Gingersnap Bali, we strive to privilege our relationships with small craftsmen for dyeing , our fabrics are preferably from bali or java sources, although for capsule collections we use international sources. For 17 years we have been operating in the heart of seminyak with a team of about 100 people ... we try to keep the owner, who is himself balinese, some of them working with us from the beginning. we respect the island's customs and traditions with great care. concerned about the future of our planet, we have used recycled paper packaging. And, all our materials are exclusively natural, since we banish synthetics. Gingersnap Bali privileges above all collections with small limited series rather than mass production, that's why the designers make new prototypes almost every month, allowing a better turn over and a production of maximum 100 pieces per model.
